Wilder Minds is 100% community funded. We rely on donations from the community to provide under served youth with enriching art experiences.
The School District of Palm Beach County, Florida, is the 11th largest in the continental US, with students who speak 150 languages/dialects. WM would focus solely on students from Title 1 schools in this district, allowing students from a diverse demographic to create collaborative works of art throughout their community. The U.S. Department of Education documents that “schools serving low-income students are being shortchanged because school districts across the country are inequitably distributing their state and local funds.” (USDE,2019) It is also show that “many high-poverty schools receive less than their fair share of state and local funding, leaving students in high-poverty schools with fewer resources than schools attended by their wealthier peers” (USDE). WM is a strong believer in the data that supports the ideas that there are several positive outcomes associated with high levels of arts exposure for youth of low socioeconomic status.(Catterall) Programs like this are important regardless of how connected one is to under served youth, because their well being affects the communities overall well-being. Therefore, we must all work together to help our students succeed no matter the circumstance, for a better tomorrow.By donating to WM, you are giving back to your community.
